Marrakech Travel Guide

Among the four historical imperial towns of Morocco, Marrakech has always had the greatest charm on travellers.

Surrounded by Atlas mountains with the top of Toubkal (4.167 m / 13,671 ft high) wich is white with snow till late spring, Marrakech, called also the Red Town for the color of the walls, is the gate of the South and the desert.

The town is famous mainly for its square, Jemma el-Fna, extraordinary open air theatre where there are, daily, performances of musicians, acrobats, fortune-tellers, street singers and snake-charmers. Marrakech is also known for its monuments and for the souks and is one of the most appreciated tourist destinations of the world: both for great personalities as Winston Churchill, Alfred Hitchcock, Yves Saint-Laurent, Elias Canetti, and for young people and big tours.

Actually the town is living a kind of “Moroccan Movida” with a lot of trendy restaurants and other fashionable places.

Marrakech is also a centre of remarkable cultural events, as the International Film festival wich is held, since seven years, at the beginning of December with famous guest stars from Hollywood.

Even if you'll stay only few days, the memory of the Red Town, with its voices, colors and scents, will not leave you any more.
